Research Network
Ten years ago, Andani.Africa started as a broad consultancy. We became a research company because we saw where the gap was, and none of that work happened alone. Every study leaned on a respondent willing to share their time, a researcher willing to share their expertise, a collaborator willing to share the load and their network.
As we mark our 10th anniversary, we're formalising what's been true all along: this has always been a community effort. The Andani.Africa Research Network is a structured, reciprocal home for the people who make African creative and cultural industries research possible, built on the principle that engagement should be reciprocal, not extractive.
This network is as valuable to us as it is to our members - it's how we keep African creative economy research grounded in real, diverse voices, and how we build the collaborator network that lets us take on bigger and more specialised work across the continent.

What we ask in return:
Tier 1 and Tier 2 membership simply asks for honest, good-faith participation - there's no minimum activity level required. We do ask that Tier 2 members uphold professional standards when engaged on paid projects or recommended for opportunities beyond Andani.Africa, since their work reflects on the wider network's reputation.
Research Associates (Tier 3) take on a light formal commitment through an annual Memorandum of Understanding: a quarterly check-in with our Research Director, participation in an annual reflection session, and good-faith engagement with project opportunities as they arise. Associates are never required to work exclusively with Andani.Africa.

This tier is by appointment, following a dedicated selection process. If you're interested in becoming a Research Associate, we'd encourage you to join as a Tier 2 member first - it's the best way to get to know the network, and means you're already part of the community while we assess Associate opportunities.
